Some of the primary drivers of happiness come out of our social bonds.
But human beings don’t connect over the phone. At least not as easily.
The chemical signals provided between a text and a face-to-face conversation are vastly different, and make the difference between a short-term interaction and a continuous relationship.
We don’t have the opportunity to see people the way we did before. We can’t rely on normal interactions to continue the social bonds that are integral to us.
It means it’s going to take as much effort out of us to get as close as we can.
It means checking up on others periodically to see how they’re coping. It means finding other medium to spend quality time together. It even means being willing to turn on that camera during a video call just to open yourself up even more.
All of this things become even more valuable today. And it’s even more up to us to maintain the connections we have when we don’t have the natural opportunities to do so.
