“We need to take out the trash.” “Can someone do the laundry?” “Somebody needs to get a floor broom soon.”
These are the types of statements that can come when living with others in a home. But have they ever lead to anything meaningful? Oftentimes it is simply a shared proclamation that leads to little action on the part of anyone. Because it feels good enough as long as everyone is in agreement.
But imagine taking the time to actually assign the work to everyone. When they should do it and what they should do. You’ve built a system that ensures those statements don’t need to be said in the first place.
It’s easy to look at the world and make complaints about the systems. Because when something is clearly wrong, everyone feels comfortable in their shared remarks. Comfortable enough, unfortunately, to not actually do anything about it.
It’s up to you, whether big or small, to find the path to making changing. It could be big or small. It could filling yourself in or finding someone to do it. Either way, nothing happens from us collectively speaking out into the void.
It is actions that’ll change the systems around us and fix the problems we seek to resolve. What action are you willing to take?
